How it works.
- We capture an image of your tooth with a digital scanner.
- A 3D model of your teeth and the new restoration is created on the computer.
- The restoration is then fabricated from a ceramic block on our milling machine, right in our office.
- The dentist places the custom-fit restoration a short time later, during the same visit.

CEREC has changed the way dentists make crowns and veneers. It is a 3D imaging and camera assisted design center that allows dentists to take digital impressions of patient teeth and use the images to create a virtual restoration.
Traditionally, dentists send the crowns to be made in dental laboratory which usually takes 2-3 weeks of time.
With the latest Primescan and Prime mill technology by CEREC (Dentsply-Serona) provide the most accurate same-day crowns in office. CEREC can be used to produce onlays, inlays, crowns or bridges without taking uncomfortable impressions with trays and without having temporary crowns for 2 weeks.

What should I expect from a CEREC dentist?
CEREC takes only seconds to obtain digital images. Your dentist will then use CEREC’s CAD/CAM technology to virtually design a restoration. The amount of time this takes depends on complexity of your case. However, it is a same day treatment which takes around 90 minutes to 2 hours from start to finish and you will walk out with permanent crowns and not temporary ones.
What are the long-term results with CEREC?
Though exact experiences vary from patient to patient, you can expect a crown produced using CEREC technology to last you many years as long as you use good oral hygiene and are not grinding your teeth.
