Improve Your Smile with Invisalign: What You Need to Know

Improve Your Smile with Invisalign

Invisalign treatments can be beneficial for both teens and adults.  They are very small lifestyle adjustments with a big impact. If you are a candidate for traditional metal braces, you would be eligible for Invisalign treatments.

Reasons Invisalign may be a good fit for you:

  • your teeth aren’t straight enough
  • your teeth are too crowded
  • have too many gaps between your teeth

You can change the way your smile looks. Why not do so while only slightly altering your life? If you have crooked or crowded teeth that are preventing you from achieving optimal oral health, Invisalign could be the solution for you.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a product created from a mold of the patient’s teeth. They are shaped to fit your teeth tightly and should not pop off on their own. You simply continue to wear a retainer, the same as you would with metal braces. The aligners provide slight resistance to the teeth causing them to move into alignment over time. The first step in the process involves a 3-D image of your mouth and jaw. The aligners are made from a durable thermoplastic called SmartTrack, which is free of gluten, latex, and BPA and is deemed safe for people with allergies, as well as pregnant people.

How long will I have to wear the Invisalign?

Invisalign treatment results can be achieved in as little as a few weeks. Depending on the complexity of your case, you could even have the smile you want in as soon as six months. Patients are expected to wear the product for about 20 – 22 hours daily. The trays are custom fitted to your teeth, making them virtually unnoticeable when laughing, talking, and eating.

What adjustments will I need to make?

Unlike metal braces, you will not need to change your diet. You simply remove it for eating and drinking. You will need to brush your teeth immediately after each meal and before putting the aligner back on. The reason for this is that these aligners can get stained by the foods that you eat. Cleaning the Invisalign is simple. You brush it or use special cleaning tablets and rinse it in warm water. Wearing Invisalign is in no way as restrictive as traditional braces. Many prefer this method because it is discreet. In addition, there is no need to change your diet to avoid foods that could damage braces. Invisalign system is free of braces and brackets. Also, Invisalign fits well into busy lifestyles because there is no need to attend frequent visits for wire tightening. Most patients simply change to a new aligner tray every couple of weeks.

How much does Invisalign cost?

The cost of Invisalign is similar to the cost of traditional metal braces. Just as some insurances cover traditional braces they may also cover Invisalign. If not covered entirely,  a percentage or a certain dollar amount may be possible through insurance. When you book your consultation, ask which insurance plans are accepted. We can also call your insurance provider to check your coverage. Feel free to schedule a consultation today!
